One of the greatest doctrines in the Bible is the Fatherhood of God. In the story of prodigal Son, in Luke’s gospel, the character who reflects God is the passionately forgiving, ridiculously generous father who rejoices over the return of his wayward Son. He lavishes this penitent son with a ring, and a robe and the party of a lifetime. The doctrine of the fatherhood of God, rightly understood, would radically reshape how all of us view each other as brothers and sisters in Christ.
