December 23, 2018 "Celebrating the Birth of Jesus" By Pastor Kevin Dibbley

In a paper given at the Oxford Socratic Club, CS Lewis made his famous quote: “I believe in Christianity
as I believe that the Sun has risen, not only because I see it but because by it I see everything else.” The
glory of Christmas is that, as Isaiah 9:2 states “The people who walked in darkness have seen a great
light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness on them a light has shone.” This Sunday at
Waterbrooke, we will celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, the entrance of the One true light into the midst
of darkness, the hope of the world into our despair, the One who gives light and life to all who trust in
Him. We, of all people, ought to sing and to celebrate, to rejoice and to worship. Let’s gather as a
redeemed family and sing His the praises of the Messiah, our Lord Jesus Christ and celebrate the life-
giving Light of the world.
